Brian Man Kit Yiu is Medical and Health Officer in the Department of Ophthalmology, Tung Wah Eastern Hospital (TWEH) and Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital (PYNEH), Hong Kong.

Dr Yiu acquired his medical qualification from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1998. Subsequently, he obtained his qualification in ophthalmology by becoming Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh, UK; Ophthalmology) in 2001, and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Glasgow, UK; Ophthalmology) in 2004.Dr Yiu also obtained a master’s degree in medical science (clinical allergy) from the University of Hong Kong (HKU) in 2004.

Dr Yiu received his basic and higher surgical training by working in TWEH, Queen Mary Hospital and PYNEH, Hong Kong, from 1995 to 2005. In August 2001, he undertook the LASIK (laser assisted in- situ keratomileusis) training course, jointly organized by Bausch and Lomb and the Singapore National Eye Centre. From 2002 to 2005, Dr Yiu served in the Department of Medicine, HKU, where he had the opportunity of training under Professor Adrian Wu (clinical allergy) and Professor Henry Chan (dermatology). From May 2005 to June 2005, he underwent training at the Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, UK.

Dr Yiu is a member of several professional organizations. He is Fellow of the Royal College of Surgery (Edinburgh, UK), Member of the Royal College of Ophthalmology (London, UK), Fellow of the College of Ophthalmologists (Hong Kong) as well as Fellow of the Hong Kong College of Medicine (Ophthalmology).

Dr Yiu actively participates in social service and educational activities in Hong Kong. He has delivered public talks on ocular allergy and glaucoma, and participated in the Paediatric Eye Screening Project and Community Cataract Screening Project organized by the College of Ophthalmology of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Ophthalmology Society.

Dr Yiu’s main academic interests lie in the cornea, external eye diseases, ocular allergy, cataract and refractive surgery.
